mp3 goes 3D

When I read this article on Trendland, it made me sit up and focus, this would be an interesting idea of using a 3D-printer.. mp3's 3D-printed as a record, which can be played on a regular record player. Great!

Suede Search

I'm totally convinced by these suede leggings or skinny trousers, but they are so expensive. So I looked up some alternatives, but this seems not so simple.. if someone knows someone? tips?

Over the budget suede : Acne (forest green!) - Haider Ackermann - J Crew

gather your Gather Journal

Some weeks ago I ordered 2 magazines which have been on my radar for a while. One of them is the Gather Journal. I especially tried to find the first issue as it is the one made out of conviction to start a magazine, it has the enthusiasm of the creator in it. And I now can speak of a budding romance.
Gather journal is a magazine about Food with a capital, in the style of the slow living/to know what you eat and to know where your food comes from...all things I appreciate. It contains recipes for starters, mains, desserts and has other chapters like Essay, Marketplace,... .The photography is literally mouthwatering and the recipes seems not too hard (as I don't like to spend hours of ingredients in the kitchen) and I immediately want to try out a lot, but will start with the Quick Pickles.

and what else : they have a mixtape on their website too :) !

Olaf Breuning looks back and forth

I discovered Olaf Breuning via the great platform art.sy (briefly the pinterest of art). He uses female bodies (or drawings of it) as canvas and he refers in his painting and naming to some of the most famous artists in history. It's something like the intertextuality of art, or as I would like to call it : interartuality.
Check also his other work on his tumblr.

I present you 'The Art Freaks' : Marilyn - Pablo - Jean Michel - Sol - Pollock

Masha Reva x SNDCT

I'm seriously considering to buy one of these gorgeous digital printed sweaters by Masha Reva for Ukrainian brand Syndicate... I think it's a go?

Playing with senses

I'm pleasantly touched by this simple (yet great) idea of reviewing a traditional game or toy and giving it this extra dimension of sensory perception.
Makiko Shinoda graduated with Material Teddy (to stimulate cognitive development) and now she's exhibiting Playing with Senses (a perceptible chess game) at Toegepast 17 in Z33 (BE).

Yippie, my copy of Wrap issue 6 arrived today.
Thanks Polly & Chris for yet again a lovely Wrap, everything goes well here!

The Cinematic Life of Pi

Movies from books, they can be good just don't compare them with the book...
I have to say I'm curious about this one : Life of Pi.

Oliver Jeffers was here

After a monography Neither Here Nor There published past spring, there is now the exhibition Here or There about the work of illustrator/painter Oliver Jeffers. I'm a big fan of his work as an illustrator (My first book of him I bought at the airport returning from a wonderful roadtrip in Canada, I thought the book had some Canada spirit and it still has good memories attached to it. I even named one of my Pinterest boards to it :)) but didn't now his paintings, definitely worth the discovery.
So if you are in/going to Berlin, consider to pay a visit to the Gestalten shop and the exhibition...

Inventory Inventario

I'm fan of the bookzine Iventario published by design label Foscarini. It has just the right amount of text, a good inventory of trends & designer interviews (°01's content from 2010 is still topical), fresh lay-out and not expensive at all (no advertising, except for Foscarini). Only maybe little negative : it's connected to one of the biggest design brands, so a lot of the content is related to it.

Oui Oui Oui Non

I say Oui and also Non to these typographic brooches from Jennifer Loiselle.

Pepe's Portfolio

Check their great portfolio on the new website of Studiopepe. I already showed their exhibition design here, but finally we can see the complete portfolio!

Art History

Already 2 weeks ago I went to an exhibition of Sol Lewitt in M Leuven and was very impressed by the gigantic and detailed wall drawings. Art students reproduced these well known, geometric art pieces in mostly basic colours guided by the Lewitt Studio. In collaboration with a similar exhibition in Centre Pompidou in Metz were only black&white wall drawings are shown. And according the images, this one looks worth it as well...

Smile you're on Pinterest

Simple Lines

Again in love with nice illustrations. I hope I'll ever be this good in drawing so simple...
by Leslie A. Wood

Chocolate Mill

What a great idea, a chocolate mill to create chocolate flakes (mmmh delicious) and a changing range of patterns which appear when you eat more.

These prints by Von Sono seems like transparent or 3-dimensional but not at all crowded and also geometrical and a lot of different things, hard to describe. (love it)

A Kinfolker

Kinfolk, it almost can't get better than this... beautiful concept, sweet content and a simple, stunning lay-out. I bought n° 2 and 3 on my vacation. We found them in Portland (OR) in the beautiful store Beam & Anchor , where you could spend hours just with looking, a very inspiring day it was.

Nice illustration today at Google... 300th birthday of J.J. Rousseau.

Lovable Mixtapes

Good music compilations and discoveries at Miss Moss and Morrison...
